Swedish outdoor cooking brand has been a companion for adventures since 1892

LOUISVILLE, Colo. (Oct. 25, 2022) — Primus, the Swedish cooking equipment brand, celebrates 130 years of bringing innovation to outdoor cooking, fueling adventures and enabling memorable outdoor dining experiences. In 2022, Primus is commemorating its 130-year anniversary with a collection of heritage logo gear, complete with special packaging that features original graphics from the early days of Primus. This production run is limited and will become a collector’s edition.

Primus was founded in a small blacksmith workshop in central Stockholm, when F.W. Lindqvist and J.V. Svenson created the world’s first soot-free kerosene stove. As it was the first, they decided to call it Primus, meaning “first” in Latin. From that point on, the name Primus became synonymous with reliable stoves that became the primary choice for people heading off on first ascents and demanding expeditions.

Primus 130 Year Heritage Collection

Heritage Classic Trail Stove

Launched in the early 1980s, the Classic Trail Stove has become the essential workhorse that has traveled on countless adventures around the world. The static four-point pot supports offer extra stability and wind resistance while comfortably holding a variety of pot sizes. A wide flame excels at heating large pots to cook for 1-3 people and the flame can boil a liter of water in under four minutes. Each stove is individually numbered for a one-of-a-kind keepsake.

Heritage Easy Light Lantern

The Easy Light will illuminate any campsite with its 490-lumen output. This compact yet effective lantern spreads light and warmth while taking up minimal space in a camp bin or backpack with its retro carry tin. The Piezo ignition makes lighting fast and easy, and the patented burner is quiet and efficient.

Heritage Eat and Drink Bundle

This everyday kitchen kit includes a plate, pint glass and cutlery set perfect for at camp or while traveling. Each piece is made with stainless steel that doesn’t retain or impart flavors and is dishwasher safe.

“Primus has been a part of groundbreaking and everyday adventures for over a century. From accompanying Andreé to the North Pole in 1897 to joining Hillary and Norgay up Mt. Everest in 1953, we have been the cooking solution of choice,” says Primus CEO Per Waag. “Our goal is to continue creating gear that helps fuel adventures. We have kept the fire burning for 130 years and we are fired up for another 130.”
