OGDEN, Utah (Jan. 21, 2020) — Salomon, the global leader in trail running and winter sports equipment, announces an extension to Courtney Dauwalter’s partnership with the Salomon global athlete team. Dauwalter, a runner with podium finishes at the world’s highest profile ultra-marathon trail races—including Ultra Trail Du Mont Blanc and Western States Endurance Run—will remain an instrumental member of the Salomon family through 2022. The inspiring talent, tenacity and authenticity that she brings both on and off the trail make her an ideal fit for Salomon’s global athlete team.
“Courtney is such an integral part not just of our athlete roster, but also of the running community at large. We are so excited to keep supporting her as she continues developing as a runner and as an important voice in our sport,” says Erin Cooper, run marketing manager for Salomon in North America. “Courtney’s talent, competitiveness and grit make her an inspiration to so many people, and she really embodies Salomon’s spirit of play in everything she does. Despite being an intimidating competitor with a laundry list of inhuman achievements, her unique humor and positive attitude make her approachable and relatable and we’re thrilled to continue supporting her every step of the way.”
Courtney Dauwalter of Golden, Colorado has earned international recognition for her slew of wins and podium finishes at ultra-distance events across the world. She began her endurance career as a collegiate Nordic skiing athlete at the University of Denver and joined Salomon following a breakout trail running season in 2016 in which she won Run Rabbit Run, the Javelina Jundred 100k and the Desert Solstice 24-hour race. Since then, Dauwalter’s career highlights include an overall course record at the Moab 240 Endurance Run, winning the 2018 Western States Endurance Run as well as the 2018 Tahoe 200 Endurance Run and, most recently, cruising to victory at the 2019 Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc and the Madeira Island Ultra Trail. As a result of her incredible work and tenacity, Dauwalter has earned back-to-back Ultrarunner of the Year recognition from Ultrarunning Magazine in 2019 and 2020. Her impressive career and fun-first approach to the sport aligns perfectly with Salomon’s values of play, performance and inclusivity.
“Getting to partner with a brand like Salomon that so well parallels how I approach this sport is a special opportunity. We’ve all grown so close over the years that working with Salomon feels a lot like family, and their commitment to supporting me and developing the best gear for me gives me a lot of confidence every time I toe the start line,” says Dauwalter. “Plus, Salomon is working really hard to break down barriers to help increase participation in trail running for women, and that’s something I’m really passionate about.”
Dauwalter’s 2020 race schedule will see her return to Big’s Backyard Ultra, the Hardrock Hundred Endurance Run and UTMB, with more to come as the season unfolds.
