Salomon Expands Partnership with Locally to Launch ‘site2snow’ Program
OGDEN, Utah (Dec. 28, 2020) – Salomon and Locally are evolving their long-term partnership in order to provide customers with the option to purchase hardgoods products online and pick up in-store with premium retail partners. This expansion of services aligns with the shift in consumer behavior and will allow customers to purchase their winter hardgoods products in the easiest and quickest way possible.
With Salomon’s site2snow program, consumers are paired with a retailer in their area who has inventory of the product they are looking for and can complete their transaction through Salomon.com with the retailer retaining the full revenue of the sale. If the retailer no longer has the product, Salomon will ship the inventory to the retail partner, giving them a share in the revenue for helping to fulfill the transaction.
Locally has been a trusted Salomon partner for over five years and a strong supporter of specialty retail, allowing customers to see where Salomon retailers are located in their respective areas. “The new site2snow program is a natural evolution of our partnership with Locally,” says VP of winter sports equipment at Salomon, Mike Adams. “Specialty retail is a key component to our hardgoods business. It was important for us to define a model that would involve our retail partners in online transactions in a transparent way, while fulfilling our customer’s needs quickly and seamlessly. We truly believe this is a win for everyone.”
This new model will allow retailers to take advantage of online traffic on Salomon’s website in order to drive incremental sales and will give them the opportunity to sell in-store services, such as mounting a pair of skis or providing boot fitting services when the consumer comes to pick-up their products. “As the popularity of online shopping continues to rise, this omni-channel selling approach will give consumers a variety of purchase and delivery options when it comes to buying winter sports equipment,” says VP of digital experience & ecommerce, Evin Catlett. “Consumers will essentially be able to shop online in a local capacity, giving them the ability to choose who they transact with and when they pick up their gear. It will be extremely streamlined and efficient.”
The first phase of the site2snow program launched in November, allowing consumers to purchase from local retailers based on their existing inventory. The revenue-share component of the program will launch in the first quarter of 2021, which will include drop-shipping product to retailers if they don’t have the inventory on hand. “Locally is proud to be a part of Salomon’s effort to support local businesses, while simultaneously making hardgoods purchases as easy as possible for Salomon customers,” says VP of business development for Locally, Teddy Schiavoni.

About Locally: Locally was founded in 2014 in anticipation of changes in consumer behavior. The company saw that shoppers were increasingly turning to internet-connected devices for decision making and that increasingly nearby stores, the brands they carry, and their on-hand inventory were invisible to shoppers. So, they built a solution. Today, Locally helps thousands of stores present their selection to nearby shoppers using ecommerce tactics and provides users with novel last-mile fulfillment options like in-store pickup and same-day delivery.
